"Talking about important things" on December 1 — the topic of the lesson
The lesson "Pets" will be devoted to the formation of a responsible attitude towards pets. The purpose of the lesson is to actualize students' ideas about the role and importance of pets in human life. The children will learn about the basic duties of animal owners, the rules of behavior when meeting stray dogs and cats, as well as how the state participates in the protection of "our smaller brothers."
The lesson will take the form of an educational conversation lasting 30 minutes. It will also include watching videos, performing interactive and practical tasks. All necessary methodological materials, presentations and worksheets are posted on the official website of the Conversations about Important project.
"Conversations about important things" December 1 — lesson program
In grades 1-4, the lesson begins with a conversation about pets. Students will share stories about their animals, discuss why they are called "pets" and how to take care of them. Using the example of fairy-tale characters and the interactive task "Fairy Assistants", children will analyze what friendship between humans and animals is based on. Elementary school students will also learn why ancient people tamed animals and how four-legged animals help in emergency situations. In addition, the children will be told what rules a responsible pet owner should follow.
Students in grades 5-7 will delve into the history of animal domestication, which began more than 14,000 years ago. Students will discuss how the role of pets in modern human life has changed and why they are now treated not primarily as friends, but not as helpers. They will also get acquainted with the four-legged pets of famous historical figures. Special attention will be paid to the exploits of animals during the Great Patriotic War. On the eve of Volunteer Day, students will watch a video interview with Vera Mitina, president of the Nika Charitable Foundation for Homeless Animals, who will talk about responsible attitude towards pets. In the final part of the lesson, the children will repeat the safety rules when encountering stray animals.
Students in grades 8-9 will talk about responsibility for animals as an indicator of human culture. Teenagers will discuss why the decision to have a pet should be balanced and shared by all family members. They will also be offered to complete a practical task based on case studies related to solving various animal husbandry situations. Special attention will be paid to the federal law "On Responsible Treatment of Animals" and safety rules when meeting aggressive dogs.
High school students will begin the lesson by discussing the role of pets in modern society. They will examine the evolution of human—animal relationships, from utilitarian benefits to emotional support. Using Anton Chekhov's dogs as an example, students will analyze how art influences the formation of a humane attitude towards "our lesser brothers." The key topic for discussion will be the responsibility of the owner, including issues of legislation and pet rights. As a practical task, students will develop a concept for a charity event dedicated to animal welfare.
Schoolchildren of all ages will also be invited to take part in the All-Russian "Fluffy Marathon" organized by the team
the project "Conversations about important things", the Charitable Foundation "Nika" and the company "Four paws". Students can offer their own format of a charity event, help volunteers, or make a video about proper pet care.
