Maduro urged to defend Venezuela amid escalating relations with the United States
On November 27, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro called on residents of the country to prepare to defend the territory amid escalating tensions with the United States.
"I ask you to always remain unperturbed in your calm, vigilant, ready and willing to defend our rights as a nation, as a free and sovereign homeland," CNN Espanol quoted him as saying.
It is noted that the situation with the United States is under control. Nevertheless, Maduro is determined to "win" in the event of an armed conflict.
Earlier, on November 23, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said that the international community should prevent the outbreak of conflict in the Caribbean and Venezuela, as such actions would be a repeat of the mistake that led to the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine several years ago.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also expressed hope on November 14 that there would be no attempts to destabilize the situation around Venezuela and the Caribbean. He stressed that international law "is in a sad state in many parts of the world."
