Some employees have advantages when scheduling vacations for the next year. Evgenia Gankina, Director of the Roskachestvo Organizational Development Department, told Izvestia about this on November 28.

123 of the Labor Code of Russia (Labor Code of the Russian Federation), a vacation schedule is mandatory for both the employer and the employee. It is approved no later than two weeks before the new year, that is, until about December 17, 2025.

"It is important to note that the employer is obliged to take into account the opinion of the employee, but the final decision on dates is formally made by him. At the same time, there are categories of employees whose wishes must be met without fail: minors, part-time workers (taking into account their main place of work), parents of disabled children and some other beneficiaries. This is stipulated in Articles 122 and 123 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation," the specialist explained.

However, according to Gankina, it is important for an employee to keep in mind some of the subtleties. Firstly, a vacation of 28 calendar days can be divided, but one part must be at least 14 days, according to Article 125 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. The remaining days can be split up at your discretion.

Secondly, if the schedule is approved, the employer must notify the employee of the start of the vacation at least 14 days in advance.

Thirdly, it is possible to change the approved schedule only by agreement of the parties. If the employee himself wants to postpone the vacation, he must write an application. The employer may also initiate a postponement, but only with the written consent of the employee, except in extreme cases where the postponement is required by law.

"In order to protect your interests and take advantage of your vacation on the dates most convenient for you, you should plan your vacation dates in advance and coordinate them with your supervisor and team before approving the schedule, analyze your plans for the year, for example, the seasons of children's holidays, important family celebrations, as well as the time when you understand exactly what is in them. your work is critically important. Keep in mind that most colleagues have a desire to relax during the most popular summer period. After the publication of the document, check whether the specified dates coincide with the agreed dates," the expert added.

On November 17, the State Duma proposed not to include weekends in the number of days of paid leave. It was clarified that currently the mandatory annual vacation period of at least 14 consecutive days includes weekends.
