On November 27, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel called fake reports that she blamed Poland and the Baltic states for the worsening of the Ukrainian crisis.

"This should be called fake news. This was not said at the time. The development of events was discussed. <...> Today, sometimes this happens when statements are put in a false context, followed by a wave of indignation, because few people read the original statements," Merkel said in an interview with Phoenix TV channel.
