The Russian government has approved a draft agreement with Saudi Arabia on the mutual abolition of visa requirements for citizens of the two countries. The relevant document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information on November 27.

"To approve the draft agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the mutual abolition of visa requirements submitted by the Russian Foreign Ministry, coordinated with the interested federal executive authorities and previously worked out with the Saudi side," the order says.

The draft states that citizens of the countries can continuously stay in the territory of another state without a visa for 90 days. It will also be possible to divide this period into several periods, but the total duration during one calendar year should not exceed the established period.

Progress on this issue is expected at the talks between the leaders of the two countries in December.

Earlier, starting from September 15, China introduced a visa-free regime for Russian citizens with a regular passport for up to 30 days. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on September 18 that Russia was working on the issue of introducing a visa-free regime for Chinese citizens. She clarified that electronic visas are currently in effect, and it is possible to issue them promptly.

The Xinhua news agency reported on November 24 that since the introduction of the visa-free regime for Russian citizens in China, the tourist flow to China has increased significantly. According to data from Beijing Daxing International Airport, since the beginning of the visa-free regime as of November 9, more than 63 thousand Russian tourists have entered China, which is almost 80% more than in the same period last year.
