The Guardian learned about Denmark's creation of the "night watch" because of Trump
The Danish government has created a "night watch" under the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to track the movements of US President Donald Trump, who claims to buy the island of Greenland. This was reported on November 27 by The Guardian newspaper.
"Night duty begins at 17:00 local time every day, and at 7:00 a report on what was said and what happened is compiled and distributed to the Danish government and relevant departments," the material says.
It is clarified that in this way the country's Foreign Ministry decided to stay "informed of events."
In December last year, Trump said that for the United States, ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity. Prior to that, he expressed interest in buying the island from Denmark in 2019, but was refused. In 2025, the American leader was also told that the island was not for sale and would not be, but Denmark could cooperate more with the United States.
On March 30, 2025, Greenland's new prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, announced that the United States would not receive the island. He explained that Greenland does not belong to anyone. According to Nielsen, "it was like that yesterday, it is like that today, and it will be like that in the future."
