Three species of exotic birds appeared in the Moscow Zoo
The Moscow Zoo on Thursday, November 27, announced the arrival of several rare bird species at once: for the first time, shuttle-beaked, black-faced ibises and smoky frogmouth have joined the collection, and after a long break, Inca cockatoos have arrived at the reproduction center near Moscow.
It is specified that two young shuttlecocks were placed in the pavilion "Bird House" — their gender will be determined later, as it is determined only by blood analysis. Svetlana Akulova, General Director of the zoo, noted that these birds are noisy in the group, but they get along with neighboring waders calmly, without competing due to different diets.
Eight black-faced ibises were housed in the Birds and Butterflies pavilion, where they are available to the public. The frog is temporarily kept on the second floor of the Bird House, which is closed for repairs. It is fed with tweezers with rodents and large insects, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
The Inca cockatoos, which are practically not found in Russian zoos, remain in the reproduction center for the time being. It will be possible to observe them in the summer, when the birds will be transferred to an outdoor aviary.
