The Moscow Municipal Fleet has begun preparations for the next summer navigation season. This was announced on Thursday, November 27, by the Deputy Mayor of the capital for Housing and Communal Services and landscaping, Peter Biryukov.

He noted that the vessels working on the cleaning of the Moskva River and Yauza have already been mothballed until spring, and during the inter-navigation period they will be repaired and upgraded, including the renewal of nine fleet units. Biryukov stressed that over the past season, the vessels collected over 530 tons of garbage and extracted about 4 thousand tons of sand and soil.

According to him, each vessel will undergo maintenance: equipment inspection, replacement of worn elements and painting work, after which commissioning tests will be carried out. Control systems and power plants will be improved on a number of garbage collection vessels, while grapples and engines will be upgraded on three cranes. Biryukov also recalled that after the completion of navigation, Rif and Nord ice—class vessels continue to operate on the water, and a garbage collector and a high-speed boat are operating in non-freezing areas, the Moscow City News agency reports.
