Alexander Shavliashvili, an entrepreneur from St. Petersburg, has been appointed head of the Kazan Committee for Tourism Development. It happened during a meeting with the head of the city Ilsur Metshin at the Kazan City Hall on Thursday, November 27.
Shavliashvili is a finalist in an open competition for the position of head of the Youth Affairs Committee of the Executive Committee of Kazan. In the final of the competition, he announced the possibility of increasing the local tourist flow to 6 million by 2030, and also proposed a project to transform the Kazan Zoo with the construction of new greenhouses. As a result, Ilsur Metshin invited him to head the Tourism Development Committee.
"Following the results of the competition for the position of chairman of the Committee on Children and Youth Affairs, we said that we would carefully consider all candidates. We remember your candidacy well, and your goal is to reach 6 million tourists by 2030. The Tourism Development Committee is a big destination, and in just 5 years we have grown by 67% in the number of tourists. You are a professional in this field, you have successful projects, and you have a lot of experience. Welcome to our team!" said the Mayor of Kazan.
Alexander Shavliashvili agreed to take the proposed position, noting that the goal would be achieved.
Previously, the Tourism Committee was headed by Daria Sannikova. She was appointed Advisor to the Mayor for work in the Association of Cities and Municipalities of the BRICS+ countries.
The final of the open competition for the position of Chairman of the Committee for Children and Youth Affairs of Kazan was held on November 20. Of the 275 applicants from different regions of Russia, Dmitry Khvostikov, chief Specialist of the Department of Advanced Projects and targeted programs of the administration of the Kirovsky and Moskovsky districts of Kazan, won.
Alexander Shavliashvili is the founder and managing partner of the AGNA Group of Companies. It is the operator of the Vasileostrovsky, Moskovsky and Maltsevsky markets in St. Petersburg.
In 2022, Shavliashvili graduated from the Moscow Financial University under the Government of Russia with a degree in Economics and Management, and in 2025 from the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration with a Master's degree in Public and Municipal Administration. He was awarded a letter of thanks from the President of the Russian Federation for his significant contribution to the preparation and holding of the FIFA World Cup and a letter of thanks from the Director General of the FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee.
