Excavations of a Bronze Age burial ground have been completed in Stavropol

Archaeological excavations of the Sotnikovskoye-1 burial mound have been completed in the Stavropol Territory. This was reported by the press service of the regional department for the Preservation and state protection of cultural heritage sites.

Kurgan embankment is located in the Blagodarnensky city district. According to the StavropolMedia news agency, the burial is recognized as an object of cultural heritage of federal significance.

In total, scientists have discovered and studied six burials of different historical affiliation — from the early to the late Bronze Age, including monuments of catacomb and log cabin cultures.

During the excavations, archaeologists discovered 18 objects, which are believed to be about 4 thousand years old. The finds will help clarify the history of the settlement of this territory.

Earlier it was reported that three more burial mounds in Stavropol were recognized as objects of cultural heritage. We are talking about the graves "Kovgansky-3", "Kovgansky-4" and "Kovgansky-5".
