Zakharova suggested the use of sleepers by the Latvian authorities as firewood
The Latvian authorities may probably need sleepers from railway tracks leading to Russia as firewood, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova suggested on November 27.
According to the Latvian radio and television portal LSM, the Latvian authorities are considering the option of completely dismantling the railway tracks leading to Russia. This wish was expressed by the country's president Edgars Rinkevics.
"Apparently, they need sleepers for heating," sneered the diplomat, quoted by Komsomolskaya Pravda.
Earlier, on November 26, Rinkevics said that Latvia was considering the possibility of completely dismantling railway sections leading to Russia. The Government plans to discuss with the national armed forces the issue of dismantling the railway line on the eastern border, as well as consult with Lithuania and Estonia on this issue.
