The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), under the leadership of Rafael Grossi, remains the only non-politicized international organization. This was announced on November 27 by Alexey Likhachev, head of the Rosatom State Corporation, commenting on Grossi's nomination to the post of UN Secretary General.

"This makes sense, because the only international organization that has remained on its agenda and has not switched to exclusively political rhetoric is the IAEA," Likhachev said.

He also noted that Grossi's nomination for this position "makes sense." The head of Rosatom stressed that the IAEA continues to fulfill its mandate, despite the most difficult situation.

Earlier, on November 26, Argentina officially submitted Grossi's candidacy for the post of UN Secretary General for 2027-2031. The document highlights Grossi's experience: more than four decades of diplomatic work, leadership of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and contributions to international security and nuclear control.

Prior to that, on September 25, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko welcomed Grossi's willingness to nominate his candidacy for the post of UN Secretary General. Grossi was among the leaders of the foreign delegations with whom the Russian president spoke on the sidelines of the Global Atomic Forum earlier in the day.
