A herd of 37 sheep was found dead in a cattle pen near the settlements of Vinevitino and Nezhino in Primorsky Krai. This was reported on November 27 in the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
"At the moment, police officers, specialists from the hunting supervision, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Forestry and Environmental Protection are taking the necessary measures," reads a statement posted on the agency's website.
The deputy head of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources, Philip Shutov, said that the autopsy of four sheep carcasses showed the presence of gunshot wounds in the animals. According to him, this is evidenced by through wounds and the presence of hair in them.
"We continue to find out what happened at the farm. Employees of the veterinary service and the Rosselkhoznadzor were involved in the work, because they identified a number of points that, we believe, are a violation of the veterinary rules for the maintenance of these animals," he said in a video posted on the Telegram channel of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources.
Earlier, on November 18, quarantine began in the Tyumen shelter for orphan animals due to an outbreak of carnivorous plague. During the period of restrictions, quarantine measures will be in effect, in particular, a ban on unauthorized persons visiting the territory, as well as on the entry and importation of plague-susceptible carnivorous animals into the shelter.
