A farewell ceremony for Nikita Simonyan, Olympic champion in the USSR national football team, has begun at the Spartak football club stadium in Moscow. This was reported on November 27 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

Simonyan died on November 23 at the age of 99. It was noted that the man felt unwell on November 20, after which he was hospitalized.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called Simonyan a football legend and an idol for fans. He also expressed his condolences to the relatives and the family of the football player.
