An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 occurred in eastern Indonesia, near the island of Simelue. This was announced on November 27 on the official website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

The epicenter of the tremors was located 46 km northwest of the city of Sinabanga. The earthquake was centered at a depth of 25 km.

According to seismologists, no tsunami threat has been announced. There was no information about casualties or damage.

Earlier, on November 25, an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 was recorded in Japan. It was clarified that the seismic event was located at a depth of 10 km. The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 44 km east of Kumamoto, where about 737 thousand people live.
