Trump called the shooting at the White House a consequence of problems with migration
US President Donald Trump commented on the recent shooting at the White House, noting that such incidents highlight the risks associated with uncontrolled immigration.
"This attack shows how serious a threat our country is facing. 20 million unknown and untested foreigners from all over the world, from places you don't even know about. No country can tolerate such a risk to our existence," Trump said.
He also stressed that such incidents demonstrate the need for strict border controls and effective screening of all foreigners arriving in the country in order to protect the safety of Americans.
The shooting at the White House was reported earlier in the day. It is noted that the health status of the victims remains unknown. White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said Trump had been informed of the incident. The US police announced the arrest of a suspect in the shooting. It is specified that he acted alone. Vice President of the United States Jay Dee Vance announced the unknown motives of the shooter at the White House.
Later, Trump announced the critical condition of two National guardsmen after the shooting at the White House. Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth said he had sent an additional 500 National guardsmen to Washington after the shooting at the White House.
As Trump later said, the US Interior Ministry is confident that the attacker is an Afghan citizen who arrived in the United States in 2021 during the presidential term of the 46th US President Joe Biden.
