The Washington Capitals hockey Club held a ceremony in honor of the 900th goal of the Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin before the National Hockey League (NHL) regular season match. This became known on November 26.

"Thirst, passion and an undeniable talent for scoring goals. Ovie, you have turned the district into a hotbed of hockey for 1.5 thousand matches (and this number is growing), and the Ovechkin effect is palpable," the club's press service said on the social network X.

It is noted that Ovechkin went on the ice with his sons Sergey and Ilya, who were dressed in a Washington uniform.

"In total, Ovechkin scored 907 goals and made 737 assists (1,644 points) in 1,514 matches during his career," Sport-Express reported.

Ovechkin scored his 900th goal on the night of November 6 during a match against the St. Louis Blues during the NHL regular season, thereby updating the sniper record. It was noted that the goal was scored in the second period in the 22nd minute, with Canadian defenseman Jacob Chikran as an assistant.
