Deputy Kolunov reported on fines for smoking in apartment buildings

Residents of apartment buildings may face a fine of up to 1.5 thousand rubles for smoking in their own apartment if smoke penetrates to neighbors or into common areas through ventilation. This was announced on November 27 by Sergey Kolunov, Deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services.

"Smoking in an apartment building is a topic that always worries residents. Smoking is not prohibited in your apartment, as it is private property. However, if smoke gets to neighbors and common areas through ventilation or an open window, then responsibility may be threatened for this," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
