The situation in the capital of Guinea-Bissau has returned to normal. This was reported to Izvestia on November 26 at the Russian Embassy in the country.

"At the moment, everything is calm," the diplomatic mission said.

Earlier, a coup d'etat took place in Guinea-Bissau. The military arrested President Oumaro Sissoko Embalo, as well as Chief of the General Staff Byage Na Ntan, his deputy General Mamadou Toure and Interior Minister Boche Kande.

On the same day, military personnel in Guinea-Bissau announced the closure of all the country's borders. In addition, the soldiers stated that the whole country is under their complete control. They also said that they were "suspending the electoral process" in the state.

The Russian Embassy in the country was put on high alert against the background of the situation in the country.
