In the Olovyanninsky district of the Trans-Baikal Territory, the railway bridge over which trains travel towards the border with China has been overhauled. This is reported by the press service of the Trans-Baikal Railway.
As part of the overhaul project, the builders replaced two coastal superstructures, filled the bridge supports with cement, and reinforced the riverbed and embankment slopes at the approaches to the structure. The specialists also treated metal structures from corrosion and performed a number of other works.
The bridge over the Onon River is one of the largest bridge crossings on the highway. Its length is about 445 m. The ferry itself was built back in 1900, the last reconstruction took place in 1991, writes ChitaMedia news agency.
The repair cost exceeded 650 million rubles. The ZABRZHD press service notes that the upgrade will allow for the passage of the growing cargo traffic between Russia and China.
Earlier it was reported that in Chita in 2026 they plan to put the road to Molokovka in order. Up to 128 million rubles will be allocated for these purposes.
