Tusk announced Poland's purchase of three submarines for its Navy
Poland will purchase three submarines for the country's Naval Forces, and a final decision on this issue will be made on Wednesday, November 26. This was stated by Prime Minister Donald Tusk at a government meeting.
"We are completing the purchase of three modern submarines. This is a moment of exceptional importance. The purchase of these vessels will mean investments in the Polish shipbuilding industry on an unprecedented scale," Tusk said, broadcast by TVP Info.
He added that Poland has received a soft loan from the SAFE (Security Action for Europe) program, under which almost €44 billion will be allocated for the Eastern Shield and the purchase of drone equipment.
The Interia portal reported on the same day that the only submarine of the Polish Navy, ORP Orzeł, had failed during sailing and would not be able to participate in the celebration of Navy Day. It was noted that ORP Orzeł is a Soviet submarine of project 877 "Halibut", adopted in 1986.
