The construction of a base for the emergency rescue fleet has been postponed in Murmansk. The work is now scheduled to be completed in 2028.

This is reported by Bi-port news agency with reference to Viktor Chernov, head of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Morspassluzhba. The reason for the adjustment is the difficulties that were not taken into account in the original project. Chernov noted that builders are forced to quickly make new design and technical decisions.

The base is being built as part of the federal project "Development of the Great Northern Sea Route" of the national project "Efficient Transport System".

In October, it became known that Rostransmodernization would hire a new contractor to reconstruct the Marine Rescue Service base. In 2024, the contract with Instroyproekt was terminated. The readiness of the facility was estimated at 33%.

The governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Chibis, stated that the base should be prepared for the reception of cruise ships.

Earlier, on November 20, it was reported that a new terminal had been opened at the Murmansk airport. Its construction has been underway since 2023. The area of the new terminal exceeds 7.5 thousand square meters. m. The capacity should be 400 passengers per hour.
