15 new trains will enter the routes of the Central Transport Hub (CTU) by the end of 2030. The first trains will start running as early as 2026, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on his channel at the MAX.

"This is part of a large—scale program to upgrade the rolling stock of the Central Technical University, which we are implementing on behalf of the President of Russia," Sobyanin wrote. He noted that the trains will be purchased using funds from the Treasury infrastructure loan.

The project is designed until 2035 and provides for the purchase of about 100 modern trains. The first five trains will be purchased in 2026, according to the website mos.ru . The trains will carry passengers of regional railway routes that connect Moscow with Kaluga, Tula, Vladimir and other nearby regions.

Sobyanin recalled that the CTU unites 11 regions and provides almost 75% of suburban railway transportation in the country. Trains are used by more than 2 million passengers per day. "Therefore, the renewal of rolling stock directly affects the convenience and comfort of travel," stressed the head of the capital.

In 2025, the MDC trains were completely updated. In June, the latest generation of Ivolga 4.0 trains began operating in the Yaroslavl direction.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
