- The Interior Ministry warned about new fraudulent applications under the guise of radar detectors
The scammers began distributing malicious mobile applications, posing as services for viewing the location of traffic cameras. This was reported on November 26 in the Telegram channel of the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
"In a number of regions, cases have been recorded where citizens downloaded supposedly free services to view the location of traffic cameras, after which funds were debited from their accounts," the report says.
According to the Interior Ministry, criminals distribute malicious software through anonymous channels and pirated websites, offering users to download APK files of supposedly free services. After installation, the application gets access to SMS or banking programs, which allows you to make unauthorized debits.
Earlier, on November 24, it was reported that attackers began to attack Russian citizens more often against the background of massive failures of large Internet services. For example, in the first ten months of 2025, fraud activity increased by about 27% compared to the same period last year.
