The Pentagon's inspection found that serious violations had been committed in the execution of contracts for the supply of ammunition to Ukraine. An audit of seven agreements revealed excessive costs and long-term deadlines. The report was published on November 20 on the website of the US Department of Defense.

"They paid perhaps more than necessary for the purchased ammunition, but timely delivery was not ensured," the report says.

The auditors note that the use of indefinite contracts did not allow to ensure the necessary volumes of supplies, and liability measures for contractors were often absent or not applied. Because of this, delays reached 18 months, and the overpayment amounted to more than $20 million.

It is also noted that the ordered ammunition for almost $ 1 billion was never delivered to Kiev. The Inspection indicated that the funds could be used more efficiently if the orders were reviewed or redistributed.

The US administration is considering the possibility of transferring Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine as a security guarantee after reaching a peace agreement. According to sources, the supply of modern missiles is considered as an alternative to the deployment of military contingents of European countries on Ukrainian territory, which Russia opposes.
