- Sculptures of the "Museon" in Moscow began to be transferred from the open exhibition
In the Muzeon Art Park in Moscow, part of the sculptures from the outdoor exhibition began to be moved as planned. This decision was made after an annual inspection, which showed that the pedestals are in poor condition and may damage the museum objects themselves. This was announced on Tuesday, November 25, by the Gorky Park press service.
Park specialists reported that cracks, chips, bio-damage and persistent contamination were found in a number of sculptures, and some pedestals are in a pre-emergency condition, the Moscow City News agency reports. The press service clarified that the relocation is taking place in stages: at the first stage, Lebedev's "Rusalka", Kravchenko's "Feofan the Greek", Tsarenkov's "Sitting", Chumakov's "Wrestlers", Levinskaya's "Sumo Wrestler", the construction of the composition "In Memory of the Victims of Stalinist Repression" (a total of 307 items), as well as a monument to Stalin were removed.. Sergei Merkurov's work has already been sent to the Grabar Restoration Center, Regnum news agency reports.
Further research will help determine the optimal way to preserve the exhibits, Moscow 24 clarifies. After testing the technique, the specialists will proceed to the second stage — the removal of the entire collection from the Garden of White Stone Sculptures, the website writes kp.ru .
