In the United States, a woman who tried to "protect" her 14-year-old daughter from the coronavirus actually drove the child to death. This was reported on November 25 by the Mirror newspaper.

"A 14-year—old girl was so neglected by Julie A. Miller that she died of apparent exhaustion, skeletal condition," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, the mother took her daughter out of school during the pandemic, explaining her desire to protect the child and elderly relatives from infection. She claimed that she would teach the girl at home, but in practice, the daughter almost never left the apartment.

Investigators found that over the past four years, the girl had left the house only twice, had not received proper nutrition, and a few days before her death, she could no longer move independently. It is noted that the mother was aware of her daughter's condition, but deliberately did not provide care and did not give her food.

The woman fully admitted her guilt in court. She faces up to 15 years in prison, and will be sentenced on February 25, 2026.

Earlier, on November 8, it was reported that the police had detained parents who had starved their two-year-old daughter to death. The body of an emaciated child born in 2021 was found on the evening of November 3 in an apartment building on Pionerskaya Street.
