Grebenkin spoke about the new concept of migration policy
The new concept of Russia's migration policy will primarily contribute to solving problems in the field of national security. Alexander Grebenkin, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council, told about this on November 25.
"According to the new Concept, the emerging migration situation should contribute to solving problems primarily in the field of ensuring national security of the state. The priority of ensuring the country's security is also included among the basic principles of migration policy," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted him as saying.
Grebenkin added that migration is no longer considered as an auxiliary tool for solving demographic problems. Currently, it is only one of the tools "for the implementation of measures in the economic sphere."
"This means that foreigners who come to us cannot unreasonably expect permanent residence in Russia, with the exception of certain categories. At the end of their legal stay in our country, they are obliged to leave its territory," the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council recalled.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on October 10 that Russia was interested in foreign labor, but it should be law-abiding citizens. The President noted that there are many problems in the field of migration, and Russian citizens themselves point this out. At the same time, Vladimir Putin stressed that foreign citizens must comply with the law and the rules of Russia.
Also on November 17, Putin expanded the list of grounds for dismissing foreign citizens. Now dismissal is allowed in cases when the employer is obliged to reduce the number of foreign employees in compliance with the regulations of the subject of the Russian Federation adopted within the framework of federal legislation.
