Dodon pointed to the bankruptcy of Moldova under the leadership of PAS
Moldova, under the control of the ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), is going through a crisis and is actually on the verge of bankruptcy. This was stated on November 25 by the ex-president of the republic, leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon in the Telegram channel.
"Moldova is going through a deep crisis. The state is actually on the verge of bankruptcy, the economy is in a coma, and the cumulative inflation rate has reached 66% over the years of the PAS government. We remain the only country in the region without any economic growth," he stated.
The politician noted that instead of looking for solutions to the situation, the government of President Maia Sandu is engaged in arms smuggling and participates in financial pyramids. He added that currently, foreign partners such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have lost confidence in the leadership of the republic.
"In fact, only Brussels remains <...> PAS is still being tolerated there, but it is unknown how long this will last," Dodon said.
A day earlier, former Prime Minister of Moldova, leader of the pro-European Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Filat revealed a scheme of embezzlement of state funds by the ruling party. He said that the government borrows money from banks at very high interest rates, about 9.4% per annum. The government uses the same funds to form short-term deposits, with interest rates two to three times lower on deposits.
Earlier, on September 29, Dodon told Izvestia that the ruling PAS party had not won at the polls in Moldova following the results of the parliamentary elections in the country. He added that the opposition in the republic had protested the results of the parliamentary elections.
