One in seven Russians (13%) does not have the opportunity to walk from home to a pharmacy and purchase the necessary medications for treatment. In an interview with Izvestia, such statistics were provided by the operating director of the Medicines pharmacy chain.<url>" by Vadim Trenkin. The initiative to create mobile pharmacies is very important for rural residents.

"This is a necessary measure for territories where it is impossible to organize stationary infrastructure, although it is impossible to present a full range in such pharmacies," the expert emphasizes.

He notes that pilot projects in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Khakassia and Krasnodar Territory, conducted in 2024, have shown positive results — the population highly appreciated the opportunity to buy medicines near home.

"In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in a village with a population of 123 people, the model showed working capacity. But for settlements with a population of less than 50-100 people, the project's economy remains questionable," the source clarifies.

However, there are risks to such an initiative. The first of them, according to Trenkin, is a violation of storage conditions, because in the field it is extremely difficult to ensure a stable temperature regime for a number of drugs.

In addition, additional barriers may include a shortage of personnel, as well as difficulties in transferring data to the Honest Sign labeling system due to unstable communications in villages, the specialist lists.
