Sobyanin spoke about the restoration of the Swiss cottage in Kuskovo
The restoration of a cultural heritage site of federal significance, a Swiss cottage built by architect Nikolai Benois, has been completed in Kuskovo Manor. This was stated in his personal blog by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
According to the mayor of the capital, restoration work in the Kuskovo estate has been underway since 2017. During this time, specialists have improved the territory of the infield forest park, creating playgrounds there, laying running and cycling tracks, building a skate park and a pump track. Environmental protection works were also carried out on the ponds of Kuskovo — Lokasinsky, Raduzhnye, Sukhoe, Maloe and Lesnoye. Restorers have restored the facades of the manor house, Dutch and Italian houses. The Grotto pavilion, the obelisk and the column with the statue of Minerva were also restored.
The Swiss cottage has become one of the most difficult objects for restorers. Experts have made every effort to restore it to its original appearance. The blind area and basement were restored, the facades were cleaned and treated with protective equipment. The damaged lower crown was replaced at the log house, for which the workers had to hang it on a special system. The carved elements of the building — the balcony, the carved porch and the curly columns supporting the roof — required special care in the work. Windows and doors were also updated in the house, and the restoration of historical furnaces was also carried out.
An exhibition exhibit is currently being installed in the Swiss Lodge. Soon it will start receiving visitors who will be able to see the historical interiors of the original noble manor house, built in the 19th century.
