In December, the Central Bank of Russia is considering the possibility of reducing the key interest rate by 0.5 percentage points. This was announced on November 25 by the head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) Alexander Shokhin.

However, according to him, there is a possibility that the rate will remain at the same level.

"God forbid if the rate is lowered by 0.5%. — Ed.), or even it will remain at the same level," he noted.

According to Shokhin, global changes are currently taking place, which makes it difficult to predict what will happen in the future. He also expressed hope for the continuation of the careful and steady policy of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation to reduce the rate.

Earlier, on November 18, Georgy Ostapkovich, research director of the HSE Center for Market Research, told Izvestia that at the upcoming Central Bank meeting on the key rate, the regulator may lower the rate again by 0.5–1%. It was noted that the meeting would be held only in December, so it is currently impossible to make any accurate forecasts.
