The Russian women's chess team was welcomed at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport on November 25. The girls returned with gold medals from the 2025 World Team Championship, which was held in the Spanish city of Linares.

In the final, the Russians managed to beat the team from Azerbaijan.

"We expectedly won, this is our third victory in a row, because we missed one World Cup, and it was more difficult for us to break through to it than to win," said Sergey Rublevsky, coach of the national team.

One of the athletes, Ekaterina Lagno, said that the team played well, successfully won all the matches and won another title.

The victory of the Russian chess players became known on November 23. In the first meeting, the Russians won with a score of 3:1. Alexandra Goryachkina and Polina Shuvalova scored the winning points for the team, while Ekaterina Lagno and Leia Garifullina ended in a draw.

In the second match, the final score was 2.5:1.5 — Garifullina brought the decisive point to the team. The remaining games ended in a draw again. It was noted that this title is the third in the World Team Championship. Earlier victories were won in 2017 and 2021.
