Canada and India are finalizing preparations for a $2.8 billion agreement on uranium supplies to New Delhi from Ottawa. This was reported on November 25 by The Globe and Mail newspaper, citing sources.

"The cost of the export agreement will be about $2.8 billion, and its validity period may be 10 years," the publication says.

It is noted that the deal indicates a warming in relations between the two countries after the previous two-year diplomatic hiatus.

According to the sources, the Canadian company Cameco Corp. will be responsible for the supply of uranium. The export agreement could become one of the parts of a broader cooperation between the two countries in the nuclear field.

Earlier, on November 18, the Russian Embassy in London told Izvestia that the UK intends to abandon imports of Russian uranium by 2028, replacing it with supplies from the United States. We are not talking about direct supplies, but about purchases of fuel of Russian origin, owned by the French EDF.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
