Borrell refused to consider the United States an ally of Europe because of the peace plan

Former High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Policy and Security Josep Borrell believes that the United States can no longer be considered an EU ally after the appearance of the plan for a settlement in Ukraine under President Donald Trump. He wrote about this on November 24 in the social network X (ex. Twitter).

"With Trump's 28—point plan to end the conflict in Ukraine, the United States can no longer be considered an ally of Europe," the statement said.

He stressed that the EU is obliged to recognize the "shift in US policy" that has taken place and react accordingly.

Earlier, on November 22, Responsible Statecraft magazine stated that the EU was trying to sabotage Trump's plan for a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine in order to prolong the conflict. On November 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Moscow had received a 28-point plan from Washington, which, according to him, could be used "as the basis for a final peaceful settlement."
