WP reported on EU complaints due to the exclusion of the United States and Ukraine from negotiations

The EU countries are unhappy that they are not participating in the negotiations between the United States and Ukraine in the framework of the conflict settlement. This was reported on November 24 by The Washington Post (WP), citing an unnamed European diplomat.

"We're off topic. We are trying to join them, but so far we have met some resistance from the Americans," the newspaper quoted the source as saying.

According to her, the proposals of European leaders to develop a peace plan were "useful," but the United States remained focused on its original document.

The article emphasizes that European officials are afraid of "irritating the Americans." The diplomat added that the EU lacks a clear understanding of the course of negotiations between the United States and Ukraine. In addition, he stressed that the current stage of negotiations is "shrouded in an atmosphere of mystery."

On the same day, Glenn Diesen, a professor at the University of Southeastern Norway, called the EU's counter-proposal to resolve the Ukrainian conflict "delusional." The day before, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called the settlement talks held in Geneva the most productive of all time and clarified that Washington and Kiev had made "tremendous progress" during them. On the same day, the American Secretary of State stressed that the United States understands the position of the Russian side in the same way as it understands what is a priority and unacceptable for each of the parties to the Ukrainian conflict.

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, in turn, called the European plan to resolve the situation in Ukraine "unacceptable."
