The Moscow Regional Court rejected the appeal of Ekaterina Burnashkina, who left her newborn daughter in the toilet in Antalya, Turkey. This was reported on November 24 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

The defendant's representatives asked to cancel the decision of the first instance, arguing that the inability to pick up the child was caused by the arrest of the girl. It was emphasized that there was no formal rejection of the child, as evidenced by her written application for a certificate.

The defendants also noted that she did not realize the consequences due to her altered state of health, in addition, the court did not conduct a forensic medical examination of her mental state.

"Burnashkina had a state of pain shock during childbirth during the day, when she had contractions. How was she supposed to know this if she didn't know about the pregnancy?" the woman's lawyer noted.

The lawyer also added that the girl's grandparents are writing applications to at least see the child, but custody refuses them.

The plaintiffs, on the contrary, consider the grounds for deprivation of parental rights to be justified. They regard the mother's actions as a rejection of the child, expressed in the fact that she left him at the airport and went through passport control, trying to fly out of the country.

"After giving birth and leaving the baby in the toilet bowl in Antalya, she took measures to escape, including changing her clothes, returning to the toilet several times. After that, she passed through passport control, where she presented her passport and answered questions from the border guards," the source told Izvestia.

In October last year, an 18-year-old Russian woman gave birth in the bathroom of Antalya airport and left the baby there to die. The girl survived due to the fact that she was found 12 minutes after the incident. The suspects, 18-year-old Ekaterina and her 47-year-old mother Elena, were identified from CCTV footage. They were detained in the waiting room for a flight to Moscow.

On February 24, a Turkish court sentenced Burnashkina to 15 years in prison on charges of attempted murder of a close relative. 9 months later, she was released from custody, reclassifying the criminal case to "abandonment," and her prison sentence was reduced. An abandoned child was found a new family in the Moscow region.

The Pavlovo-Posad City Court of the Moscow region on September 23 deprived Burnashkina of her parental rights.
