Ukraine does not meet any of the criteria for joining the European Union (EU). This was stated on November 24 by the head of the office of the Hungarian Prime Minister Gergely Gulyash in parliament, his speech was broadcast on the Youtube channel of the Magyar Nemzet newspaper.

According to Gulyash, at last year's meeting with the EU Enlargement Commissioner, participants were shown a table assessing Ukraine's readiness for membership in the association.

"Ukraine, I repeat, according to the record of the Enlargement Commissioner, did not meet the criteria for joining the EU on any point," he stressed.

Gulyash noted that the submitted documents demonstrate the motivation of Brussels, which seeks to promote Ukraine in the EU not because of its achievements, but for foreign policy reasons. He stressed that Budapest's position remains unchanged: Hungary opposes Kiev's admission to the European Union.

"The EU and Brussels, ignoring the interests of the member states, are ready to accept Ukraine. However, entry is only possible by consensus. <...> Hungary will not agree to an entry that will destroy Hungarian agriculture and industry, and which will lead to undesirable immigration in the labor market," he said.

Earlier, on November 5, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, Peter Szijjarto, said that Hungary, expressing the will of its people, would not allow Ukraine to join the EU.

On November 18, Polish Minister of National Defense Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh said that Ukraine, with a high level of corruption in the country, could not be admitted to the European Union. According to him, European partners should demand that the Kiev authorities immediately clarify the circumstances of the corruption scandal in the entourage of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on November 20 that Ukraine did not meet any of the criteria for joining the EU. According to her, there is no democracy on the Ukrainian territory, as well as transparency of the judicial system and anti-corruption legislation. At the same time, she clarified that Ukraine's accession to the EU is necessary not for ordinary citizens of the union countries, but for the European bureaucracy, which pursues a policy that does not take into account the interests of the participating countries.
