The State Duma talked about the principles of considering Trump's plan in Russia
If one or another position in the peace plan is considered point by point, suggesting countermeasures, then both sides will again come to a head. Alexey Chepa, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Relations, said this on Monday, November 24.
The day before, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the talks in Geneva, Switzerland, had become the most productive and meaningful, RT reports. At the same time, the negotiators still have a lot of work to do. 360.ru .
Chepa noted that the reaction in Russia and Ukraine to the recently published plan of US President Donald Trump was completely different. He clarified that there were points in it that raised questions for Russia, but the approach itself was correct. The parliamentarian also suggested that Trump knew that it would be more difficult with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, because Russia and the United States had agreed in Anchorage.
"For every measure, there can be a countermeasure, and this can go on indefinitely. I think there will be deadlines again. But they have to work out their position, and then we will have to start defending our interests. The West will try to slow down the negotiations, so Russia will have to consider all these positions very consistently," the parliamentarian concluded in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
Negotiations took place throughout the day in various formats between the United States and the Ukrainians. The American team, led by Rubio, also included special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff, Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. The Reuters news agency reported that final agreements had even been reached on some issues.
Later, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Rustem Umerov, after consultations in Geneva, said that the plan proposed by the United States for an American settlement, after making adjustments to it, was at the final stage of approval and reflected key priorities for Kiev. He noted that the Ukrainian authorities highly appreciate constructive cooperation with the United States and their attentive attitude to the comments of the Ukrainian delegation.
On November 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Moscow had received a 28-point plan from Washington, which, according to him, could be used "as the basis for a final peaceful settlement." Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the decision-making space for Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky is shrinking. According to him, the rejection of a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis and the continuation of a special military operation (SVO) are "senseless and dangerous" for Ukraine.
