The government of Moldova's ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PDS) has organized a scheme to plunder public funds through excessive borrowing from banks. This was announced on November 24 by the former Prime Minister of the country, the leader of the pro-European Liberal Democratic Party, Vladimir Filat.

"It's simple, primitive, but destructive for the state budget: the state borrows money from banks at very high interest rates, today about 9.4% per annum. The government uses the same funds to form short-term deposits, and interest is charged on deposits two to three times lower," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

The difference in interest rates is a direct damage to the budget, he noted. According to Filat, as a result of this scheme, banks benefit, while the state budget loses, with 80% of such funds going to repay old debts.

"And the whole mechanism was revealed by the person who was supposed to hide it. It was confirmed, without noticing it, by the MP of the Democratic People's Party, who described it publicly," Filat added.

Earlier, on October 29, the leader of the opposition political bloc Pobeda, Ilan Shor, responding to a question from Izvestia, said that the Moldovan authorities were fulfilling Europe's order to destroy the state.

On August 22, former Moldovan anti-corruption prosecutor General Veronica Dragalin accused the country's president, Maya Sandu, of her dismissal and disruption of the fight against corruption. In addition, she noted that the staff of the Presidential Administration (AP) attempted to interfere in the work of the anti-corruption agency.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
