The doctor warned about the risk of using low-quality lipolytics
Interest in lipolytics has increased markedly over the past year. They resort to them to achieve clearer, slimmer outlines of the face and body. However, you can also face serious consequences when using this drug. On November 24, a dermatologist, cosmetologist, and co-owner of Dr. Omarov's clinic network, Zarema Omarova, told Izvestia in which cases it is worth being wary.
"Lipolytics are used for the face to reduce nasolabial folds, correct the contour of the face, reduce eyebrows and the area of the second chin. It is used on the body either to reduce fat traps ("ears", stomach, sides, the area above the knees), or to reduce the overall volume of the body, emphasizing the silhouette," she explained.
Lipolytics are injectable drugs that are injected into problem areas to reduce local fat deposits. They work through the launch of lipolysis, that is, through the breakdown of fat cells. The active components of the drugs act on cell membranes, disrupting their integrity. This leads to the release of the contents from the cells. Breakdown products are transported through the bloodstream to the liver, where they are processed and naturally eliminated from the body through the circulatory and lymphatic systems.
"The problem is that lipolytics are often bought on marketplaces, where it is generally difficult to determine the originality of a medical drug. In addition, there are only a few officially registered drugs for injectable lipolysis in Russia. Self—administration of a drug or procedure in beauty salons by cosmetologists without medical education is associated with high health risks," the doctor warned.
The most common are the formation of bumps, irregularities, seals, and inflammation at the injection site. With individual intolerance, allergic reactions are possible. If the injection technique is incorrect, there is a high risk of damage to deep structures and edema. With high dosages and the use of low-quality drugs, a general load on the organs of excretion and intoxication of the body is possible.
Like any other drug, lipolytics have a number of contraindications, including diabetes mellitus, inflammatory processes in the areas of lipolytic administration, kidney and liver pathologies, autoimmune diseases, taking anticoagulants, neurological diseases, etc.
Injection procedures require knowledge of human anatomy and the location of blood vessels, because any mistake can lead to the most depressing consequences. Therefore, any aesthetic injection procedures should be performed only in a clinic by a doctor with higher medical education.
"You also need to understand that lipolytics can correct problem areas, but they will not provide overall weight loss. Weight loss can only be achieved with a balanced diet, an active lifestyle, and reduced stress levels. Lipolytics will not provide rapid weight loss," Omarova noted.
The results appear after about 2-2.5 weeks, and the maximum possible result is achieved after about 6-8 sessions, which should be carried out with an interval of 10-14 days. Hardware cosmetology can be one of the comprehensive solutions in the fight for clearer facial contours and reduction of local fat deposits on the face and body. The devices allow you to compact fat packs, tighten the contours of the face and body through lymphatic drainage and stimulation of collagen synthesis — that is, to work through deeper layers of the skin, to obtain a more powerful rejuvenating lifting effect. The cosmetologist also noted that this option does not have as many contraindications as lipolytics.
Plastic surgeon Sergey Karpovich told Izvestia on October 24 that injections of fillers are also dangerous. According to him, if the filler gets into the vessel, tissue necrosis may develop or even blindness may occur. The specialist emphasized that the risks can be minimized only by contacting professionals who are well versed in the anatomy and technique of drug administration.
