Jamaican reggae singer and musician James Chambers, known as Jimmy Cliff, died of pneumonia at the age of 82. This was announced on November 24 by the artist's wife.

"My husband Jimmy Cliff died after an attack that turned into pneumonia," she wrote on the singer's Facebook page (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

The widow expressed gratitude to the musician's family, friends and colleagues who shared his life path.

Chambers was born in 1944. He has been singing and writing songs since he was 14 years old. At the age of 17, he released his first track, Hurricane Hattie. The musician contributed to the growing popularity of reggae around the world after the release of the film "The Thorny Path", where the musician played the main role, the Jamaica Observer newspaper notes.
