A criminal case that has become a legal precedent in the Russian Federation has been referred to the court of the city of Olenegorsk, Murmansk region. We are talking about bringing to justice the owner of the dog who released the pet on a samovygul, according to the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"A 41-year-old resident of the city of Olenegorsk is accused of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 118 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Causing serious harm to health by negligence)," the report says.
According to Bi-port news agency, in April 2025, a man left his Doberman unattended and let him go for a walk near an apartment building on Mira Street. The dog, who was without a muzzle and leash, collided with an 80-year-old woman. The pensioner fell from the impact and received injuries classified as serious.
According to the victim's daughter, the result of the collision with the dog was a compound fracture of the tibia. After the operation, the woman was not allowed to walk for another two months. But on the night of June 17, a fire broke out in the pensioner's apartment. The woman could not leave the room and suffocated.
In the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, the case is called unique and landmark for law enforcement practice. The collected materials have already been submitted to the court for consideration on the merits.
