Most moms would not want to receive expensive gifts from children.
More than half of mothers would not like to receive valuable gifts from their children, because they consider it an irrational waste of money and feel awkward. Such data is provided by the flower and gift marketplace Flowwow. Izvestia got acquainted with the results of the study on November 25.
It turned out that 34% of moms consider valuable gifts irrational and feel awkward and indebted when receiving them. For 26%, the main thing is attention, not cost, and only 28% perceive expensive gifts as a sign of special love. This is most often thought of in Ufa, Kazan and Krasnodar, while Moscow is only in fourth place.
Mothers of children aged 7-10 receive gifts more often than others — 41%, and older kindergarten groups (3-6 years old) — 28%. At the same time, mothers of teenagers note that they give more memorable gifts: a comic book about the family, cute videos or a quest for the whole family, where the child acts as a presenter.
"We see an increasing demand for Mother's Day gifts. It grows by 60% annually. Often, grown-up children accompany their gift with a small postcard, where they share how much they love and appreciate their mothers. We see that the number of such symbolic gestures is increasing every year," said Vera Modenova, Executive Director of the Flowwow flower and gift marketplace.
Mothers are most often given flowers (42%), sweets (31%) and jewelry (30%) by their husbands. Women noted that they would most like to receive money (26%) in order to decide for themselves what to please themselves with. Next on the moms' vishlist are travel (24%), as well as time for yourself, such as going to the spa (22%).
Women would least like to receive subscriptions — 6% of respondents, and gadgets — only 12% chose this option. Interestingly, the tastes of the youngest and older mothers coincide. Both of them often dream of a short vacation. Among women aged 18-25, 29% chose this option, and one in five among 46-55-year—olds. Money took the second place in both groups. Mothers aged 26-45 have a similar picture, but the priority is different: first money, then time for themselves.
On November 17, Polina Voronina, director of B2B marketing at the company, told Izvestia that Mother's Day remains one of the most anticipated family holidays, and interest in it in Russia is growing every year. According to the Flowwow marketplace, Russians annually buy more than 100,000 bouquets and gifts for their loved ones, and this figure continues to increase.
