The explosion at the AFEN Mall business center in Baku could have been caused by a gas leak from a previously damaged pipe. The owner of the building, Abulfat Aliyev, announced this on November 24.

"Gas accumulated in the basement, and in the morning, when the employee turned on the light, an explosion occurred," the newspaper quoted him as saying. Haqqin.az .

According to Aliyev, a gas supply line was laid through the territory of the office building, which was damaged by tractors during road works. In turn, the builders reported on the completion of the repair work, but soon the gas gradually began to seep into the building of the business center, which could have caused an explosion in one of the offices.

Earlier in the day, an explosion occurred in one of the offices of AFEN Mall. It is noted that during the destruction of a five—story building located on Ahmed Rajabli Street in Narimanov district, five people were injured: one had a thermal burn, four had injuries to various areas of the body.
