The upcoming matches of the Fonbet Cup of Russia and the Mir — Russian Premier League (RPL) will be dedicated to the memory of Olympic champion Nikita Simonyan in 1956. This was reported to TASS on November 24 by the events department of the Russian Football Union (RFU).

"All upcoming matches of the Cup, the RPL and the National Football League will be dedicated to the memory of Nikita Simonyan," the message says.

It is specified that the games will begin with a minute of silence.

The death of the 1956 Olympic champion in football, ex-striker of Spartak and the USSR national team Simonyan became known earlier, on November 23. It was clarified that on November 20, the man felt his condition worsen, and therefore it was decided to hospitalize him.
