A criminal case has been opened in the Altai Territory on the fact of an attempt on the life of law enforcement officers. This was announced on November 24 by Lyudmila Ryazantseva, Senior Assistant to the head of the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.

"The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Altai Territory have opened a criminal case on the grounds of crimes provided for in Articles 317 and 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," Ryazantseva said.

It is specified that we are talking about articles on encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer and on the acquisition and storage of firearms by a group of persons by prior agreement.

According to the investigation, on the night of November 22, under the railway bridge in Pervomaisky district, two local residents were stopped by employees of the regional directorate of the FSB of Russia for the region in connection with operational investigative measures to prevent crimes against state security. Unwilling to comply with the demands of the employees and obstructing their activities, the attackers opened fire using illegally acquired firearms. Both suspects were eliminated.

At the moment, the investigators, together with the operational staff of the FSB, are carrying out the necessary investigative actions and operational search measures aimed at establishing all the causes and circumstances of the incident.

Earlier, on November 21, a resident of the Kamchatka Territory was sentenced to 18 years in prison for participating in the activities of a terrorist organization and preparing terrorist acts against military personnel. According to investigators, the man joined a Ukrainian organization that is recognized as terrorist and banned in Russia, established contact with the curator in the Telegram messenger and completed the task of creating a propaganda video.
