Nikita Simonyan, Olympic football champion in 1956, former striker of Spartak football club and the USSR national team, died at the age of 99. This was announced on November 23 by Alexander Mirzoyan, President of the Union of Football Veterans of Russia.

"Nikita Pavlovich died," Sport-Express quotes him as saying.

According to Mirzoyan, the man felt unwell on Thursday, November 20, after which he was hospitalized.
