Durov admitted France's involvement in Charlie Kirk's death
On November 23, Telegram founder Pavel Durov admitted France's possible involvement in the death of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
"After studying everything Charlie Kirk ever said about Macron's France, [the journalist's] information Candice [Owens] about French involvement in his death looks completely plausible to me," Durov wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
He also recalled that Kirk had previously called for the imposition of 300 percent tariffs on French goods until charges against the Telegram founder were dropped.
Kirk died on September 10 after an assassination attempt during a speech at the University of Utah. He played a key role in the victory of US President Donald Trump in the 2024 elections. The suspect, Tyler Robinson, was charged with murder and appeared in court for the first time via video link on September 17. The farewell ceremony for the politician took place on September 21 at the State Farm in Arizona.
On October 15, US President Donald Trump posthumously awarded Kirk the Presidential Medal. The widow of activist Erica Kirk received it from the hands of the American leader.
