On November 23, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva asked not to whisper in the interpreter's ear during the final press conference of the G20 summit in Johannesburg.

The incident occurred after a question from a European media journalist in English, when the translator began translating words too quietly for the Brazilian president. Da Silva's reaction caused laughter among the journalists and members of government delegations who attended the press conference.

"You're not just translating for yourself, buddy, speak up. Only Zhanzha (the president's wife. — Ed.) whispers in my ear," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
